Requirements to ELCP pathway and full admission
The scores below apply to both undergraduate admission and exchange programs. For graduate-student language proficiency requirements, please review Linfield’s catalog for specific programs.
Test scores must be within 24 months of the first day of classes at Linfield University.

To determine class placement, all international students will take both a written and oral assessment during orientation at Linfield.
Linfield University also accepts as fully admitted:
- International Baccalaureate (IB) English A with a score of 5 or higher
- SAT Evidence-Based Reading and Writing 540 or higher, and/or
- Pacific International Academy (PIA) with successful completion of Level 5 courses.
- Portland English Language Academy (PELA) with successful completion of Level 6 courses need take only one advanced writing course prior to full admission.
