Take Your WSET Journey With Us

The Wine and Spirits Education Trust (WSET) was founded over 50 years ago to serve the needs of a growing wine industry. Today, it's recognized as the global leader in wine education, awarding certification through a worldwide network of Program Providers. The Center for Wine Studies at Linfield University is proud to be a part of that network, offering courses designed to inspire and empower anyone looking to develop their wine knowledge - from beginners to experts and from enthusiasts to professionals. Courses are led by WSET certified instructors and offered in-person and online.

Choose Your Path

Level 1 Wines: Laying the Foundation

An ideal first step, Level 1 provides a hands-on introduction to the world of wine. You’ll explore the main types and styles of wine through sight, smell, and taste, while also gaining the basic skills to describe wines accurately and make food and wine pairings. Well suited for those just starting, or seeking to start, a career in the wine/hospitality industry and curious consumers who want to make more informed buying decisions.

Level 2 Wines: Leveling Up

Building on the foundation of Level 1, Level 2 examines the world's principal and important grape varieties, the regions in which they are grown, and the styles of wine they produce. Through a combination of tasting and theory, you’ll discover the factors that impact style and quality and learn how to describe these wines with confidence. While completion of Level 1 or prior experience with wine is recommended, there is no pre-requisite for Level 2.
