We recognize this has been an unusual year. Because safety is our top priority, 2021 Commencement celebrations will look different. We are pleased to offer a variety of events – some that will take place in person, some online and others in combination.

College of Arts & Sciences/School of Business Virtual Commencement

Sunday, May 9

The virtual Commencement will be shown on the Linfield University YouTube channel premiering at 11 a.m. on Sunday, May 9. The virtual ceremony will include a roll call of the graduates, traditional Commencement speeches and more.

Portland Senior Toast and Celebration

Thursday, May 20

Wear your cap and gown. Drop your acorn and turn your tassels as a cohort. Food carts available. This event will take place on the Portland Campus. The event will take place on the Portland Campus beginning at 4:15 p.m. and concluding around 6:15 p.m.

Nursing Carmencement

Friday, May 21

Graduates, you will sign-up for a specific time slot and arrive on foot or by car with your family or friends. You will then move through a series of stations that will have stops for photo opportunities. Stations will include activities such as walking across the Commencement stage and receiving your diploma. Carmencement is expected to last from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, May 21.

Virtual Nursing Pinning

Saturday, May 22

Nursing graduates complete coursework at the end of May. Complete details for nursing celebrations will be announced in the next few weeks. However, we do know that the pinning ceremony, the official entry into the nursing profession, will be shown on the Linfield University YouTube channel on Saturday, May 22, premiering at noon.

Professional photos

Professional photos will be available for purchase. Graduates will be contacted by mail and email and given the option of purchasing photos taken on May 2 and May 21. Once the proofs are available, they will be posted on Grad Images' website.

McMinnville Senior Celebration

A student-only event on Friday, April 30 for graduates in the College of Arts & Sciences and the School of Business. Drop your acorn and turn your tassels as a cohort. Food carts available. Event begins at 7 p.m. Masks must be worn.

Virtual Baccalaureate

Baccalaureate, celebrated virtually on Saturday, May 1, is available on the Linfield University YouTube channel. Tune in to see readings by numerous students, two songs performed by the choir, and a Baccalaureate address given by Chaplain David Massey '78.

McMinnville “Carmencement”: In-person celebration

McMinnville campus and Online and Continuing Education (OCE) non-nursing students who have completed graduation requirements are invited to participate in “Carmencement” on Sunday, May 2.
