Career outlook for BSN-educated nurses

  • The employment rate for registered nurses is expected to increase by six percent through 2032 (U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics).
  • The average salary of nurses with BSN degrees is $74,713, 5% higher than those with an Associate Degree in Nursing (PayScale).
  • Better critical thinking skills.
  • Enhanced leadership abilities.
  • A better understanding of diversity and multiculturalism.

The benefits of getting a bachelor’s in nursing

As the local and global health care systems continue to grow and become increasingly complex, medical facilities depend on nurses and their diverse skill sets to care for patients and promote community health and well-being. However, health facilities are also raising their standard of education for nurses. For example, the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) notes that health care facilities prefer — or are required — to hire BSN-educated nurses. Enrolling in an RN to BSN completion program supports your professional growth and career advancement.

Because nurses with a BSN degree undergo more in-depth clinical training and tend to have stronger leadership skills, they are more qualified for management positions like Clinical Nurse Manager or Nursing Director, which have higher yearly salaries and increased career potential.
