Do you offer full tuition scholarships? - International student applicants applying to Linfield for undergraduate study can qualify for academic scholarships and need-based grants during the application process. While these awards can help to offset the cost of a Linfield education, we are unable to offer full tuition or full cost of attendance scholarships at this time. All students attending Linfield University are expected to contribute toward the cost of their education.
- The maximum financial aid package for eligible students at Linfield covers up to 60% of the cost of attendance.

How do I submit my academic records? - Secondary school academic records can be uploaded by your high school directly to the Common Application.
- If your high school does not have a Common Application account, your school official may email your academic records from their school-affiliated email account to dkanclerz@linfield.edu for verification.
- If your academic records are issued in a language other than English, you will need to obtain a certified translation of these documents prior to submission. In this case, the translator can email your academic records and the associated translation along with their credentials to dkanclerz@linfield.edu for verification.
- If you have attended a U.S. college or university, electronic transcripts are preferred and should be sent directly from the institution to admission@linfield.edu. Official transcripts can also be mailed directly to:

Do I need to take the SAT or ACT? - Applicants for fall 2025 and spring 2026 start terms are not required to submit test scores to complete their application. Test scores will not be used in the admission, scholarship or financial aid process.

Can my English proficiency exam requirement be waived? - If you have completed at least 2 years of academic study with English as the primary language of instruction (the language you were taught in for all courses except for a foreign language course), you are eligible for an English proficiency exam waiver.
- If this waiver has not been applied to your application within 7 business days of submission, please reach out to admission@linfield.edu to request a review of your application for this waiver.
- All incoming international students whose first language is not English will meet virtually or in person with the English Language and Culture Program (ELCP) at Linfield prior to course registration to discuss the available ELCP support services and best navigate class placement.

Why do I need to submit financial documents? - As part of the F1 student visa application process, all international applicants are required by the U.S. government to submit financial documentation to their institutions of application verifying their ability to fund one year’s cost of attendance.
- This financial documentation must be liquid in nature, such as in a checking or savings account.
- The amount you will need to show on your financial documentation equals one year’s cost of attendance minus any scholarships or grants that you are eligible for from the institution.
- Should you be receiving external scholarships to fund your education or require a letter of conditional admission to apply for a bank loan to fund your education, please reach out to our Office of Admission to request this: admission@linfield.edu.

When will I hear back about the status of my application? - For fall semester, if you apply by April 15, you should hear back from us by May 15.
- For spring semester, if you apply by December 1, you should hear back from us by December 15.

When will I receive my I-20 document? - After accepting your offer of admission through the application portal and paying your $400 matriculation fee, the Office of Admission will connect you with the International Programs Office (IPO) within 5-7 business days. The IPO will work with you to obtain any additional information necessary to issue the I-20 document required to apply for your student visa.

Do I need to live on campus? - Linfield University is a residential campus and requires all students to live in college housing for three years. You may be exempt from college housing if you meet at least one of the following criteria.
- In your fourth year of college attendance (minimum)
- You are 21 years of age before the start of the academic year (August 28, 2023)
- You're living with parent(s) or guardian(s) in their primary home of residence within Yamhill County
- You're married or in a registered domestic partnership
- You have qualifying dependent(s) living with you in your primary home of residence
- Linfield University is a residential campus and requires all students to live in college housing for three years. You may be exempt from college housing if you meet at least one of the following criteria.
