Applied physics merges a strong grounding in science with practical hands-on engineering training, giving you the skills to tackle important problems in many fields of study. The concentration in engineering is an option within the applied physics major to further prepare you for a future engineering career.

you might take:

Ordinary Differential Equations

Learn first-order equations, second-order linear equations and power series methods, and their applications to mechanics and physics. (MATH 210)

Principles of Economics

Survey of micro- and macroeconomic theories and methods, with an emphasis on the operation of market systems, allocation of resources and distribution of income. (ECON 210)

Engineering Design Project

Complete a semester-long engineering design or research project, applying your physics and engineering knowledge to explore a topic of your choice. (ENGR 489)
