Assistant Professor of Practice
Building 1 - 121
Professor Truong started his medical career in nuclear medicine, performing mobile nuclear stress testing in San Diego. He then transitioned into nursing, completing his BSN in 2012. His nursing experience has had a continued focus on cardiology where he was an anticoagulation RN at a local cardiology clinic. His current clinical experience is at Providence Portland Medical Center (PPMC) on a cardiac/tele unit. At PPMC, he was involved with the training of new graduate nurses along with nursing students. This work was what originally inspired him to go into nursing education.

Professor Truong enjoys teaching the Acute Conditions course in third semester. He has previously taught in all of the IEL clinical courses but is most interested in helping first-semester students build their foundational skills. His current clinical teaching role is with high-fidelity simulations in the third semester where he helps students transform their ability to “think like a nurse.”
