Montressa Washington is an associate professor of management and director of the Institute for Entrepreneurship at Shenandoah University. She brings extensive industry and academic experience to her work in leadership, change and organizational development.
Before entering academia, Washington served as a senior managing consultant and service area manager at IBM, where she specialized in change management and human capital management. She was an instructor for IBM’s Change, Culture and Leadership course and led large-scale business transformation engagements focused on organizational change management, organization design and technology assimilation. Her work emphasized user adoption of collaborative and social technologies, particularly within the public sector, including federal, state and local governments.
Washington is a Society for Human Resources Management Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) and a Certified Scrum Master through ScrumAlliance. She holds a Ph.D. in management from Case Western Reserve University, an MBA from Johns Hopkins University and a Bachelor of Science in English from University of Maryland.
