Dave Smith, Ph.D., has more than 25 years of experience leading financial risk management and capital markets functions within corporate treasury organizations and financial institutions. His professional expertise includes term-structure modeling, counterparty credit risk, fixed income, quantitative methods, foreign exchange and interest rate hedging, cash flow modeling and share repurchase strategies. Dr. Smith has presented research at national conferences on topics including counterparty credit risk, portfolio optimization, capital structure, and applied quantitative finance. In recognition of his work managing counterparty credit risk at Adobe during the global financial crisis, he was awarded the Alexander Hamilton Gold Medal for Financial Risk Management and was named a finalist for the Association for Financial Professionals Pinnacle Award. While completing his doctorate at the University of Oregon, Dr. Smith was recognized by the Department of Economics with its annual teaching award on three occasions, reflecting a sustained commitment to instructional excellence. Outside the classroom, he enjoys playing ice hockey, fishing, hiking and reading Stephen King novels.
