Academic interests

I really enjoy working with preservice teachers and guiding them in exploring the secondary-level subjects they are interested in teaching. One goal I have is helping students see how they can be teachers of reading, writing, speaking and listening in all secondary subject areas. Humanities teachers have many recent additional curriculum standards that will require some training and gathering of resources, so that is a focus of these methods courses as well. Finally, I want to ensure that these future teachers think critically and creatively about teaching for equity and how it improves teaching and learning for everyone.
