Shoe Design Basics
Students will focus on the development of a solid foundation of shoe design ability. Topics will include shoe history, vocabulary, biomechanics, sketching, brief creation, material selection, pattern-making techniques and construction systems. Each student will create a digital footwear collection that can be critiqued by industry professionals, which could be used to build a shoe design portfolio. Students must have a basic understanding of design processes.
Instructor provides reading material each week and videos. The class meets each week for an hour online to discuss.

Words and Wine Workshop
A weekend gathering for writers of all experience levels in the heart of Oregon wine country. The event kicks off Friday, June 6, with a wine tasting and talk by Maria Ponzi, Linfield’s Director of Wine Studies. Across the weekend, participants will engage in workshops led by esteemed faculty Megan Kruse, Ellen Waterston, and Joe Wilkins, plus faculty and attendee readings, informal office hours, and a panel on writing and publishing. With wine receptions, inspiring sessions, and a supportive community, this is a weekend you won’t want to miss!
