
Program Requirements for Mathematics
MAJOR IN MATHEMATICS
For a major in Mathematics: 42 credits, including
- MATH 170: CALCULUS I
- MATH 175: CALCULUS II
- MATH 200: VECTOR CALCULUS
- MATH 250: LINEAR ALGEBRA
- MATH 370: ELEMENTARY ANALYSIS
- MATH 485: SENIOR SEMINAR
and an additional 19 credits in courses numbered 200 or above, at least two courses (minimum 6 credits) of which must be numbered 300 or above. Students planning on graduate study in mathematics should plan their programs with their advisors to include more than the minimum indicated.
MINOR IN MATHEMATICS
For a minor in Mathematics: 20 credits, including MATH 170,MATH 175, and 12 credits in courses numbered 200 or above.
MINOR IN MATHEMATICS EDUCATION
For a minor in Mathematics Education: 26 credits, including
- MATH 135: MATHEMATICS FOR ELEMENTARY TEACHER I
- MATH 136: MATH FOR ELEMENTARY TEACHERS II TEACHERS II
- MATH 140: INTRODUCTION TO STATISTICS
- MATH 170: CALCULUS I
- MATH 230: DISCRETE MATHEMATICS
And at least 6 additional credits in courses numbered 175 or above. Students may substitute 340 for 140 thus reducing the total number of credits needed for the minor to 23.
