Elementary plus English for speakers of other languages licensure-only program

Become a teacher in as little as 16 months! If you already hold a bachelor’s degree (or higher) in any area of study, you can earn your Oregon teaching license without the need for another degree. This program is designed for working professionals looking to change careers, current K-12 staff and instructional associates who want to teach elementary school, or teachers who are seeking an additional endorsement.

Program features

  • 50 Linfield credits: After completing the equivalent of six prerequisite courses at any Oregon community college, you can transfer your coursework to Linfield. You'll then complete 13 courses here plus a student-teaching position in a classroom setting.
  • Flexible terms: With four start terms throughout the year, you can attend part-time and finish in as little as 16 months. 
  • Online classes: Classes are all offered online through Linfield's Online and Continuing Education program.
  • Competitive tuition: $250 per credit. Estimated tuition and fees: $12,500.

  • Prerequisites

    Pre-education coursework transferred from an Oregon community college that is equivalent to the following Linfield course:

    • Foundations of Education: EDUC 150 (equivalent of 3-semester credits)
    • Learning and Development: EDUC 200 (equivalent of 4-semester credits)
    • Foundations of Inclusion and Special Education: EDUC 210 (equivalent of 3-semester credits)
    • Equity and Culturally Responsive Pedagogy: EDUC 260 (equivalent of 3-semester credits)
    • Mathematics for Elementary School Teachers I: MATH 135 (equivalent of 4-semester credits)
    • Mathematics for Elementary School Teachers II: MATH 136 (equivalent of 4-semester credits)
